Harley-Davidson and Dunlop’s Beautiful Friendship

Partnerships can change over time, with companies moving from one tire provide to another, but not Harley-Davidson. Cooperating for over 30 years, Dunlop has shipped more than 10 million original equipment tyres to Harley-Davidson, destined to be fitted onto factory bikes.

Harley-Davidson doesn’t just slap on some existing Dunlop tires onto their motorcycles, instead they worked with Dunlop engineers to develop tires. Holding the product of their partnership to the highest of performance standards.

This beautiful friendship started back in 1981, when Harley-Davidson chose Dunlop as their tire of chose for the Sportster. After that, the company started supplying original tires for Harley-Davidson FL models and before long they were developing even more tires for the motorcycle brand including the Dunlop American Elite.

“Harley-Davidson set demanding standards for their suppliers,” comments Andy Marfleet, marketing manager, Dunlop Motorcycle EMEA. “We are proud of our three decades working in close partnership on a range of models. The 10 millionth Harley-Davidson OE tyre is a significant landmark, and our focus is now on developing innovative new products for forthcoming new Harley-Davidson models.”

They’ve continued on to produce the Dunlop GT502 which is featured on the new XL1200 CX Roadster.
